Diabetes and Endocrine Services
Diabetes affects millions of Americans – young and old alike. Left uncontrolled, diabetes can lead to a number of other medical conditions including increased risk of blindness and heart and kidney disease. Norton Healthcare offers a variety of programs designed to diagnose, treat and control diabetes and other endocrine problems in adults and children.
The Norton Diabetes Center helps to coordinate diabetes education and management efforts at all area Norton Hospitals including:
- Conducting Type 2 diabetes classes
- Offering education on and management of gestational diabetes
- Offering nutritional counseling which may include individual appointments with dieticians
The Pediatric Endocrinology Service at Kosair Children’s Hospital provides diagnostic and therapeutic programs for children with a number of ailments including:
- Diabetes
- Mellitus
- Metabolic disease
- Disorders of physical growth
- Sexual maturation
- Thyroid function
- Adrenal function
- Pituitary function
- Calcium and Phosphorous metabolism

- Diabetes clinician available for in patient education
- Home health program for diabetes education
- Hot Shot’s diabetes support group
