Norton Healthcare Community Medical Directors

Norton Healthcare is pleased to offer the support of three community medical directors to help address the health needs of our community’s most vulnerable populations.

Through the lens of community need, these providers work outside the walls of their medical practices to collaborate personally with organizations to bring awareness to important health topics.

Specifically, our community medical directors:

  • Provide direct community outreach and participate in educational health programs throughout various communities, especially those in underserved areas.
  • Assist in the planning and coordination of community health fairs and events and actively participate in health fairs, neighborhood community activities, health screenings and special events.
  • Assist in the communications efforts and participate in media opportunities, speaking engagements and mentorship opportunities.
  • Collaborate with Kelly C. McCants, M.D., cardiologist and executive director of the Institute for Health Equity, a Part of Norton Healthcare, to strengthen access to care in an effort to improve health equity statistics.

Our Medical Directors

Crystal D. Narcisse, M.D., internal medicine physician and pediatrician

Knowing the history of her community gives Dr. Narcisse a sense of purpose. It also gives her a charge — a responsibility not to just to help her children, her family and herself, but also to help others and to make the world better. It is why she went into medicine. Dr. Narcisse practices at Norton Community Medical Associates ­– Hurstbourne. She is excited for the opportunity to help strengthen our communities. With her interest in children’s and women’s health, she is a wonderful speaker and resource on a variety of topics.


Maria F. Nota, M.D., pediatrician

M. Fernanda Nota, M.D., pediatrician

Believing everyone deserves care sensitive to their cultural preferences drives Dr. Nota, who practices at Norton Children’s Medical Group – Germantown.  Dr. Nota is a longtime advocate for underserved communities that face so many barriers when it comes to access to health care. Her philosophy is to offer a place where patients and their families can relax, knowing that they are supported, heard and appreciated; a place they can call their medical home. And, this often requires taking this message out into the community so people understand the importance of developing a trusting relationship with a medical provider. Dr. Nota is a true champion for children and the Latinx community and is looking forward to supporting these communities in new ways.

Steven Patton, D.O. family medicine physician

Early on, Dr. Patton recognized an issue in his community — a lack of mentorship and role models to show pathways to professional development. And this extended into pathways to improved health. This motivated Dr. Patton, who now practices at Norton Community Medical Associates ­– Preston. He is working hard to open doors for others and help to provide a positive influence for both working and living in wellness. Generous with his time and talent, Dr. Patton is an excellent resource for health topics for adults, with a particular interest in men’s health and alternative treatments.
