Norton opens “medical home” in La Grange
Residents of LaGrange and surrounding communities will soon have a new option for medical care.
Norton Healthcare is set to open Norton Community Medical Associates – LaGrange, a new medical home in the Cherrywood Shopping Center, on Thursday, Sept. 1, 2016. The 11,000-square-foot facility will primarily serve adult patients in the area.
“Our goal with this new location is to offer a variety of services to patients in Oldham and the surrounding counties,” said Joshua Honaker, M.D., system vice president of Norton Medical Group. “We find a lot of patients are driving to Louisville to see doctors. This facility will offer them excellent care closer to home.”
Two primary care physicians — Bradley Kocian, M.D., and Ann Roberts, M.D. — will staff the office, which will be equipped with X-ray and lab capabilities. The plan is to add more doctors and subspecialists as patient volume grows.
“The potential for this facility is significant,” Dr. Honaker said. “A true medical home allows patients to have access to a primary care physician, where they can have their short-term care as well as their wellness needs met. Our goal is to bring in multiple subspecialties so those who have short-term care needs, chronic care needs and wellness needs can be treated all in one place.”
Construction of the medical home began in January and involved a complete renovation of a portion of the shopping center on Market Street.
Dr. Roberts, who’s been treating patients in Oldham County since 2003, expressed excitement as she watched the finishing touches being made to the facility.
“This place will be a tremendous asset for my patients,” she said. “I’m ready to get to work in this beautiful space.”
“Norton Healthcare’s new medical home is all about quality, state-of-the-art care,” said Dr. Kocian, who previously worked in adult primary care in Louisville. “I look forward to being involved in the Oldham County community.
The facility is part of Norton Healthcare’s plan to expand access to health care and medical homes for patients throughout the region. It’s a goal Dr. Honaker expects to achieve.
“Oldham County is an area we have wanted to expand in for a while,” he said. “There’s a large patient care need. LaGrange not only is in the heart of Oldham County but also is a short drive for residents in Henry, Shelby and Trimble counties as well.”
