Weekly Louisville flu cases highest of season; 6 deaths recorded statewide

Louisville health officials reported 595 cases of flu in the week ended Jan. 26, the highest weekly count so far this season. State officials, meanwhile, reported six adult flu deaths in Kentucky in the same time period.

The Louisville Metro increase represented a 14 percent climb from the prior week.

Four of the 19 statewide deaths this season were in Louisville, according to data released by the Louisville Metro Department of Public Health and Wellness. There have been 2,983 confirmed cases of the flu in Louisville this season.
