For the fourth year in a row, Norton Healthcare has achieved top gold recognition in the American Heart Association’s Workplace Health Achievement Index. The assessment defines best practices and evaluates the quality, comprehensiveness and effectiveness of an organization’s efforts to improve employee health and well-being.

Companies recognized at the gold level are among those that obtained the highest index scores in 2020 for advancing quality workplace health programs and supporting a culture of health best practices. Norton Healthcare has received various designations and awards from the American Heart Association since 2009.

Norton Healthcare supports a well workforce through its comprehensive wellness program, N Good Health. The program is designed to help employees improve or maintain their health. A cornerstone of the program — the 4 steps — helps employees establish a medical home, have routine physical exams and engage in regular wellness activities. Each campaign year, participants who complete the 4 steps earn wellness credits in the form of $35 cash per pay period ($910 annually).

The American Heart Association created the index with its CEO Roundtable, a leadership collaborative of more than 40 CEOs from some of America’s largest companies who are committed to applying evidence-based approaches to improve their employees’ overall health. The index uses science-based best practices to evaluate the overall quality and comprehensiveness of their workplace health programs. Studies show that work sites with a culture of health with comprehensive, evidence-based policies and programs, and senior leadership support, are more likely to have engaged employees and a healthier, more productive workforce.
