Robin Stutzenberger leaned on her love for her job and colleagues to get through the uncertainty and stress of working as an essential health care worker during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We’ve been successful at Norton Healthcare because of our teamwork,” said Robin, an environmental services associate at Norton Cancer Institute – Brownsboro. “I love to help people, and I love my job. It gives me something to look forward to every day.”

On top of the typical cleaning process, Robin details COVID-19 patient rooms, cleaning every item in the room with bleach wipes. Once dry, she goes over every item with an all-purpose disinfectant cleaner.

“I want the patient rooms to be as safe and clean as possible, as if myself or a family member was going to stay there,” Robin said.

Before a vaccine was available, Robin and her co-workers remained positive and focused on providing excellent patient care, which helped carry them through months of anxiety.

Robin was among the first Norton Healthcare employees to receive the COVID-19 vaccine, bringing her tremendous reassurance.

“When we first started getting COVID-19 patients, many nights I would finish my work and just pray I could go home and be OK,” said Robin, who has been with Norton Healthcare for 18 years. “I had to reassure myself that I could do this.”
