Debbie Rickert has been working in health care information technology for 30 years and has learned that a team with diversity — heritage, gender, skills and talents — can be key to a successful project.
“In my experience, the most successful initiatives and outcomes are driven by teams with much diversity,” Debbie said. “Having a varied representation of people with an open and engaging culture simply ensures a better performing team.”
Debbie is Norton Healthcare’s system director for Epic systems, Norton Healthcare’s electronic medical records management system. Her team helps make sure doctors, nurses and others have appropriate access to the information they need to help people. She also makes sure only the right people can access this vitally personal information.
Norton Healthcare offers a wide array of career paths, from nurses and other health care providers to finance and administrative positions.

Debbie credits her success to loving what she does and making great efforts to do it well.
“My grandfather taught me at a very early age to find what you love doing and do it well,” Debbie said. “Everything else will just fall into place.”
She urges young women to seek out activities and learning experiences to build leadership and communication skills for greater career success. Norton Healthcare offers many opportunities for personal and professional development, and Debbie recommends to everyone that they take advantage of these opportunities.
“Anyone and everyone should pursue their dreams and be open to engaging with a variety of people to help get them there,” Debbie said. “Norton Healthcare takes great effort and much pride with ongoing growth and development of people.”
