NPride, Norton Healthcare’s resource group for LGBTQ employees and allies, celebrates Pride Month by recognizing a few of our notable employee members.

“I no longer live in the shadows,” said Lynnie Meyer, R.N., Ed.D., CFRE, senior vice president and chief development officer for Norton Healthcare.

Lynnie is proud of the progress the LGBTQ community has made over the years toward gaining acceptance, inclusion and respect, which has allowed her and her family to live full lives as productive members of the community.

That wasn’t always the case when Lynnie began her career 35 years ago. However, since joining Norton Healthcare 14 years ago, she has found a workplace that values and respects all.

“Norton Healthcare has put a flag in the ground to support inclusion and diversity,” Lynnie said. “It shows we are committed to meet the needs of the community and to embrace and value our employees. It fills me with pride.”

Lynnie is the executive sponsor of NPride and supports the employee resource group’s outreach efforts, including community sponsorships and connecting with other professional ERGs in our community, such as Yum! Brands, Brown-Forman, LG&E and UPS.

Lynnie said she believes building that professional network focused on LGBTQ inclusivity will lead the city toward creating a community that fosters acceptance and love over ignorance and intolerance.

“I’m hopeful that as a society we can embrace our differences and just treat each other as humans with human experiences,” she said.

Lynnie said she looks forward to continuing to work with NPride and Norton Healthcare to offer educational resources and develop staff training that reflects the work already being done.

“We have great heart within Norton Healthcare, and we truly believe in delivering compassionate care,” Lynnie said. “I want Norton Healthcare to be our area’s preferred provider for the LGBTQ community.”
