Congratulations to Norton Healthcare’s 2019 Nurses of the Year

11 extraordinary nurses honored for exceptional service.

Norton Healthcare has recognized 11 extraordinary nurses for exceptional service with its 2019 “Nurse of the Year” awards. The awards were presented May 13 at a banquet honoring the finest of its more than 5,350 nursing staff members.

“Our nurses make Norton Healthcare the best place to receive care, and the best place to provide care,” said Kim Tharp-Barrie, DNP, R.N., SANE, FNAP, system vice president, Norton Healthcare Institute for Nursing and Workforce Outreach. “Our highly educated nurses are open, compassionate and friendly. They strive to improve our patient care, and they embrace opportunities to learn and grow.”

Meaghen Hart-Williams, APRN, and Mary Anderson, R.N., are two of the award winners.

“To be selected as the winner of this award from among a wonderful group of fellow nurses is a great privilege,” said Meaghen, a nurse practitioner with Norton Neurology Services and the Nurse of the Year winner for Norton Medical Group. “For me, being a nurse and nurse practitioner is about providing the best possible care to patients and their families. This job can be challenging, and it’s nice to be recognized for the work we do each day.”

Mary is a patient navigator and Nurse of the Year winner for Norton Cancer Institute.

“Every day, I witness the outstanding, compassionate and quality care all members of the Norton Healthcare team provide to our community,” Mary said. “I feel fortunate to be part of an organization that values the entire patient care team by providing us with resources to further our potential for personal and professional growth. I am truly honored to represent all of my nurse colleagues who give of themselves on a daily basis to provide exceptional patient care.”

There were 53 finalists for the awards and 11 winners from throughout Norton Healthcare.

“I am so proud of our 2019 nominees and winners for Nurse of the Year,” Kim said. “Every day our nurses step up to provide remarkable care — they make us remarkable.”
