Addiction is a hard battle to fight — even more so when you are fighting for two. New Vision for Expectant Mothers is a service offered at Norton Women’s & Children’s Hospital for pregnant women who are seeking or experiencing withdrawal from opiates, alcohol and other addictive substances.
“We’re going to try and eliminate the highs and lows from addictive substances for women and their babies,” said Zach Crouch, regional coordinator with SpecialCare Hospital Management Corp., which operates the New Vision for Expectant Mothers service at the hospital.
New Vision for Expectant Mothers provides a medically supervised hospital stay for up to seven days. Pregnant women with substance dependency receive compassionate care focused on the health and well-being of both mother and baby, along with education. Services include a physical, complete laboratory workup, nursing assessment, medication stabilization and discharge planning.
