Meet Tina Griffith, cancer survivor turned health advocate

At just 38 years old, Tina Griffith heard the words that would change her life forever: ‘You have cancer.’ Meet her and other Norton Healthcare patients in the Report to Our Community.

Cancer is a word no one wants to hear from a doctor. But, once those life-changing words were spoken to Tina Griffith, the Norton Children’s Hospital employee chose to fight.

“I woke up one morning and heard, ‘If you are going to pray to me, why are you crying? And if you are going to cry, why pray?’ At that point I realized God’s got this — I’ve got this,” she said.

Griffith is now six years cancer-free and uses her story to empower others to fight for their health through early detection and prevention.

“Early detection is the key for all cancers,” she said.

Griffith works with the Norton Healthcare Mobile Prevention Center to host an annual health fair at a community center in West Louisville, which provides mammograms and other health services for attendees.
