Leaders Treating Pancreas and Biliary Tract Disorders

Pancreas disorders include various forms of pancreatitis and pancreatic cancer. The biliary tract encompasses the liver, gallbladder and bile ducts. The gallbladder stores bile produced by the liver and passes it on to the stomach through the bile ducts. Pancreatic juice is added to bile as the pancreas and biliary tract work together to perform the majority of food digestion.

Norton Healthcare gastroenterology specialists are some of the few in the area to use endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP). This procedure commonly is performed to check for cancer in the bile ducts and pancreas and remove gallstones from the bile ducts.
