As Brandon Lewis’s once active lifestyle slowed dramatically over time, he began noticing issues like high blood pressure and chest pain. A teacher, he didn’t have energy for his music students. Even simple everyday tasks became difficult.
With a wife he adores and a baby on the way, Brandon knew he had to take action. That’s when he turned to Ben Tanner, M.D., bariatric surgeon with Norton Weight Management Services. While apprehensive about surgery, Brandon credits his doctor and care team for putting him and his wife at ease.
“They were with me at every step. Even my pre-admission nurse was phenomenal,” Brandon said.
Following his bariatric weight loss surgery, Brandon has had ongoing follow-up appointments with Dr. Tanner at Norton Health & Wellness Center. They have developed a solid relationship, and Brandon feels comfortable asking questions in person or through MyNortonChart.
Now Brandon is back to doing all the things he loves — traveling, riding amusement park rides, zip-lining – and especially being a father. He’s also gotten back to a more active lifestyle, beginning with training for his first 5k run.
Brandon encourages young people to take charge of their health early.
“Don’t wait until it’s too late. Do what you can to get your life back,” he said.
