Prior to planning your continuing medical education activity, please contact the Center for Continuing Medical Education. A member of our team will review guidelines, required forms and the planning process. In accordance with the mission of the Center for Continuing Medical Education, activities designed should address a professional gap and be designed to change competence, performance and/or patient outcomes.
As you plan your activity, reference the American Medical Association’s policy definition of continuing medical education (CME):
“Educational activities which serve to maintain, develop or increase the knowledge, skills and professional performance and relationships that a physician uses to provide services for patients, the public or the profession. The content of CME is the body of knowledge and skills generally recognized and accepted by the profession as within the basic medical sciences, the discipline of clinical medicine and the provision of health care to the public.” (AMA House of Delegates policy No. 300.988)
