Working With You To Create a Customized IBS Plan

Norton Healthcare gastroenterology specialists have been treating digestive conditions like irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) for patients in Louisville and Southern Indiana for more than 30 years.

Our board-certified and fellowship trained physicians and their team will work with you to address the abdominal pain, diarrhea and/or constipation of irritable bowel syndrome.

Experienced and Compassionate IBS Treatment

While the cause of irritable bowel syndrome is unclear, our specialists have access to a full range of diagnostic tools to rule out other causes of your symptoms.

We’ll work with you to create a customized treatment plan that could include dietary and other lifestyle changes, medication and probiotics to improve the flora in your digestive tract and help with possible IBS symptom triggers.

No two cases of IBS are exactly the same. We’ll find the best treatment for you. Dietary changes we’ll explore include adding fiber, avoiding gluten or a “low FODMAP” diet.

FODMAP stands for fermentable oligosaccharides, disaccharides, monosaccharides, and polyols — difficult-to-pronounce names for certain carbohydrates and sugars.

These carbohydrates pull water into your intestinal tract, and they can overwhelm your system and not digest properly. They then ferment in your intestinal tract and can cause diarrhea, constipation, gas, bloating and cramps.
