Decades of Liver Disease Experience

The board-certified and fellowship-trained gastroenterology specialists at Norton Healthcare have the training and experience to treat patients for all liver diseases.

Our gastroenterology specialists have been serving Louisville and Southern Indiana patients for more than 30 years.

Experienced and Trusted Liver Disease Care

Norton Healthcare gastroenterologists and our other providers treat a comprehensive range of liver diseases, including fibrosis, cirrhosis, nonalcoholic fatty liver disease, the effects of hepatitis infections, liver cancer and liver failure.

A healthy liver helps fight infections, clean your blood and digest food. Your liver is the only organ that can regenerate itself after injury.

Our specialists are prepared to treat the full range of liver disease from inflammation through liver failure. An inflamed liver is trying to fight infection or recover from an injury. The inflammation could go away with proper treatment.

Fibrosis happens when scar tissue starts to replace healthy tissue. Diagnosis and treatment of a fibrotic liver increases the chances your liver will heal itself.

Cirrhosis is the result of hard scar tissue taking over much of the liver and sometimes can be the first sign of liver disease. Our specialists aim to stop or slow the damage to your liver and protect the remaining healthy tissue.

Cirrhosis can lead to end-stage liver failure and/or liver cancer.
