Norton Heart & Vascular Institute Heart Rhythm Center – West Louisville provides comprehensive care for patients with irregular heartbeats such as atrial fibrillation and other arrhythmias. Norton Heart & Vascular Institute board-certified and fellowship-trained electrophysiologists have at least 10 years of medical training and, collectively, more than 100 years of experience.

Our electrophysiologists use a full suite of the latest in technology and devices to diagnose and monitor your atrial fibrillation or other heart rhythm condition. These include:

  • Echocardiogram — a test that provides pictures of the heart’s valves and chambers, typically performed at one of our diagnostic centers by a technician
  • In-lab electrocardiogram (EKG) — a test that measures the electrical activity of the heartbeat at one of our diagnostic centers
  • Wearable event monitors— small, adhesive, water-resistant, medical-grade monitors that can be worn for seven to 30 days to record heart rhythms (EKG)
  • Holter monitor — battery-operated portable device that measures and records your heart’s activity continuously for 24 to 48 hours or longer, depending on the type
  • Implantable loop — a recording device, about the size of a paper clip, that monitors heart rhythms for up to three years

Norton Heart & Vascular Institute Heart Rhythm Centers include a nurse educator who helps patients understand their condition and connects them with additional resources. The device-monitoring team provides around-the-clock digital monitoring to detect arrhythmias.

Patients with permanent pacemakers and implantable defibrillators can have their devices checked and adjusted at a Heart Rhythm Center.

Free surface parking is available adjacent to Norton West Louisville Hospital, with patient drop-off and pickup at the main entrance.

TARC Route 19 stops in front of the hospital on 28th Street. Route 23 stops on Broadway, around the corner from the hospital.
