The entrance to the Norton Women’s & Children’s Hospital’s labor and delivery unit is located on the second floor of Norton Medical Plaza 3 – St. Matthews, 4123 Dutchmans Lane, on the Norton Healthcare – St. Matthews campus.

Patient drop-off is available at the entrance to the medical plaza. Free valet parking is available Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., at the building entrance and at the main hospital entrance.

Free parking for Norton Medical Plaza 3 – St. Matthews is located at Entrance 4 from Dutchmans Lane, near the intersection with Browns Lane, or in the surface parking lot next to the medical plaza. TARC Routes 19 and 23 serve the Norton Healthcare – St. Matthews campus.

Where to Go

From the entrance to Norton Medical Plaza 3 – St. Matthews, take the gold elevators to the second floor. Proceed to the admission desk for the labor and delivery unit.

Visitor Instructions

Visitors to the Norton Women’s & Children’s Hospital mother and baby unit should use the first-floor entrance to the main hospital. Once in the hospital, follow signs to Elevator B. Sign in at the security desk next to Elevator B, then proceed to the mother and baby unit on the third floor.

All visitors to the mother and baby unit are required to present photo identification.

  • Room options provide a home-like setting.
  • All 19 labor and delivery rooms offer natural childbirth options and other services.
  • Labor tub, birthing balls, birthing stools, nitrous oxide for pain management, showers and wireless monitors allow you to move around more freely during labor.
  • Norton Women’s & Children’s Hospital delivers more than 6,000 babies each year – more than any other hospital in Kentucky. Our providers have the experience to give you the care you need and the experience you want.
  • Doulas are welcome, and staff midwives are available.
  • Board-certified lactation consultants, including one dedicated to labor and delivery, are available to help you begin breastfeeding within one hour after giving birth. Starting within the first hour has been shown to increase breastfeeding success.
  • The Baby Bistro & Boutique breastfeeding shop is located on the first floor of Norton Medical Plaza 3 – St. Matthews.
  • Emergency obstetric care is available at the labor and delivery unit with board-certified OB/GYNs 24 hours a day.
  • While most deliveries are uncomplicated, Norton Women’s Care also specializes in high-risk pregnancies and deliveries, with a specialty maternal-fetal medicine program and connection to specialists in two neonatal intensive care units (NICUs). Norton Women’s & Children’s Hospital has a Level III NICU.

Childbirth Classes

Norton Women’s Care offers free childbirth classes in-person in the downtown Louisville area, including at Institute for Health Equity, a Part of Norton Healthcare, and via Zoom.
