Primary and Urgent Care Services

Norton Healthcare primary care and urgent care services are designed to get you the right care when you need it.

Primary Care Services

Annual checkups are a great way to stay strong, live healthier and get a health professional’s view of any concerns you have. Your provider can help you create a personalized wellness plan to keep you at your healthiest. Annual checkups, or well-visits, are covered by most insurance plans to help patients stay up to date on preventive care and screenings.

Learn more about the difference between annual checkups and office visits.

Your provider will learn about your lifestyle, medical history and family history and can give you information, guidance and a referral to any specialist if needed.

Family medicine specialists have the expertise and range of services to care for your entire family.

You may choose an internal medicine specialist for your primary care. These doctors are trained to diagnose, treat and prevent illness for adult patients.

If you need to be seen right away, your primary care provider can assess your symptoms, order lab work and prescribe medications if needed. You also can access care on your own schedule at 18 Norton Immediate Care Centers or several Louisville-area Norton Prompt Care Clinics (including inside select Walgreens stores), or through telehealth visits any time, any day through Norton eCare.

Nutritional counseling is available for weight loss, prenatal nutrition and healthy eating to manage chronic diseases.

Norton Healthcare is a sponsor of United Community, a coordinated care network of health, education and social care providers. Through the United Community network’s Unite Us platform, Norton Community Medical Associates providers can exchange referrals with community resource partners to help address any health or social needs.

Primary care providers also may complete referrals to our Community Health Worker Program within the Institute for Health Equity, a Part of Norton Healthcare. The community health workers can provide you with one-on-one support as they work to improve social determinants of health in our community.

Five of our primary care locations feature our Norton Community Medical Associates – Endocrinology team. Your primary care provider will help you learn to manage your diabetes. Patients also may be referred by their provider, or you may contact the team yourself for additional diabetes support, including diabetic education specialists and support groups.

If you need lab work, Norton Community Medical Associates primary care locations have services on-site, so you can complete labs during your visit. Norton Healthcare Express Services also offers drive-thru lab services with a lab order from your Norton Healthcare provider.
