Sports Injury Appointments

Schedule an appointment online or call

If you exercise regularly or play a sport, chances are you’re going to injure yourself at some point.

Whether or not you consider yourself an athlete, Norton Sports Health offers sports injury appointments for children and adults who want to continue competing or resume an exercise-focused lifestyle after an injury.

Same-day sports injury appointments can be booked online or by calling (502) 891-8326 (TEAM), so you can be seen quickly and get started on your recovery quickly. Appointments are available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday appointments are also available from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Norton Orthopedic Institute – Westport and Norton Children’s Orthopedics of Louisville – Westport.

The Norton Sports Health team works in partnership with the orthopedic providers at Norton Orthopedic Institute and Norton Children’s Orthopedics of Louisville to provide specialized care that’s customized for you. Treatment typically starts with expedited imaging, whether X-rays, MRI or other services, and an appointment with one of our surgical or nonsurgical orthopedic specialists. It continues through rehabilitation resources, including physical therapy, if needed, to get you back in action.

Continue your recovery, work on reinjury prevention or improve your conditioning at the Norton Sports Health Performance & Wellness Center. Our performance coaches will work seamlessly with your Norton Sports Health provider to help you get back to the activities you enjoyed before injury.

Saturday Appointments Now Available

Need to be seen on the weekend? We’re here for you.

Sports medicine providers are available at Norton Orthopedic Institute – Westport and Norton Children’s Orthopedics of Louisville – Westport on Saturday mornings to assess sports-related injuries.

Why a Sports Injury Appointment?

A sports injury appointment at Norton Sports Health is geared toward your active lifestyle and treatment and prevention of sports injuries.

When you are facing an injury that limits your activity, you’ll benefit from specialized care. Sports injuries and your recovery plans can be different from other musculoskeletal injuries. You’ll get a personalized treatment plan that can optimize recovery and reduce the risk of reinjury.

Most of our sports medicine providers specialize in nonsurgical treatments and work closely with orthopedic surgeons when necessary.

“Sports-related injuries need prompt diagnoses and treatments to accelerate recovery,” says Joshua K. Wu, D.O., physician, Sports Medicine, with Norton Sports Health. “At our sports injury appointments we address athletes’ concerns right away, helping them recover and return to their sport quickly and safely.”

When Should I Make a Sports Injury Appointment?

We don’t want you sitting on the sidelines in pain! Make an appointment with the sports medicine team when:

  • Your pain doesn’t improve after a day or two of rest, ice, compression and elevation (RICE) treatment.
  • Your undiagnosed or untreated condition affects training and performance.
  • Your condition puts teammates or competitors at risk.

Some athletic injuries, such as a broken bone or overuse injury, will need to be evaluated by a specialist at Norton Orthopedic Institute or Norton Children’s Orthopedics of Louisville. Orthopedic providers work with your sports medicine specialists, physical therapist and rehabilitation services to get you the care you need.
