Surgical Technologist Training Programs
Norton Healthcare offers both associate degree and an on-the-job apprenticeship program that prepare students seeking a career as a surgical technologist. Eligible students can choose between the following two unique pathways to obtain the needed credentials for employment.
Associate Degree from Jefferson Community and Technical College
Students can enroll in the associate degree program from Jefferson Community and Technical College (JCTC). In this traditional setting, students will complete prerequisite courses including anatomy and physiology; medical terminology; and sterile procedures. Students are eligible for tuition assistance through both the Norton Scholar Program and Norton Healthcare’s Surgical Technologist Apprenticeship Program.
JCTC’s surgical technologist program is a two-year associate degree program. During the second year, students will transition into the surgical technologist student position where they will learn on the job and complete their clinical requirements.
Surgical Technologist Training Program
Students receive training in the classroom as well as in a hands-on setting to complete program requirements. Students selected into this program must have one year of current health care experience or have completed another health care education program.
This program is a one year, experiential training program at Norton Hospital located in downtown Louisville, Kentucky. Students must pass an exam and master the skill requirements to complete this program.
