For individuals who received a Moderna COVID-19 vaccine, those who are 18 and older are eligible for a booster shot five months or more after the second dose of their initial series. The Moderna booster is available only at Norton Healthcare Vaccine Clinic – St. Matthews and Norton Healthcare Vaccine Clinic – Dixie.

For those who received the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine, a booster shot also is recommended for those who are 18 and older and who were vaccinated two or more months ago.

Some people may have a preference for the vaccine type that they originally received, and others may prefer to get a different booster. While the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommendations now allow for this type of mix-and-match dosing for booster shots, it is preferred that you continue with your original vaccine maker. Norton Healthcare will provide a booster with a different manufacturer if it is more convenient for the patient or is desired.
