Important Information for All Visitors

  • Please wear a mask if you:
    • Have a fever, cough, shortness of breath, headache or recent loss of taste and smell
    • Have tested positive for COVID-19 or been exposed to a person with COVID-19 within the past 10 days
    • Have recently been diagnosed with a respiratory illness
  • Good hand hygiene is the best way to stop the spread of respiratory infections. Clean your hands often with soap and water or alcohol-based sanitizing gel.
  • All adult hospital patients may have two visitors at a time, ages 2 and older. Any visitor under age 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
  • Sick people cannot visit or accompany patients.
  • If a visitor displays unsafe, threatening or aggressive behavior, or otherwise interferes with care (intentionally or unintentionally), appropriate measures will be taken to protect patients and staff.

Norton Healthcare Adult-service Facilities

Adult-service Hospitals, Including Outpatient, Surgical and Emergency Departments

  • Patients may have two visitors at a time, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
  • Mother-baby/antepartum, and labor and delivery patients: Two visitors and the designated support person are welcome. Siblings ages 2 and older may visit; all other visitors must be over age 12.
    • During labor and delivery, a properly credentialed doula also may be present as part of the care team.
    • Labor and delivery operating room: One support person may accompany the patient.
  • For patients in isolation:
    • Two visitors are welcome for most patients, including those in COVID-19 isolation.
      • No guests can visit patients on constant aerosolization therapies, including BiPAP and Vapotherm breathing devices.
    • All visitors must strictly follow personal protective equipment (PPE) guidelines and remain in the patient’s room throughout the visit.
    • All visitors must leave the room during any aerosolization procedure.
  • Compassionate exceptions for visitors will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

Doctors’ Offices and Adult-service Outpatient Medical Centers, Including Norton Cancer Institute

  • Two visitors may accompany the patient.

Norton Children’s Visitor Policy

Patients Admitted to Norton Children’s Hospital and Norton Women’s & Children’s Hospital

  • Up to two primary caregivers: Primary caregivers must be designated for the length of the patient’s stay. They must be age 18 or older, unless they are the patient’s parent/guardian. Primary caregivers will be required to have their fingerprints registered in the visitor management system so they can access the unit and visit the child at any time.
  • Secondary caregivers/visitors: Up to four designated secondary caregivers/visitors may visit between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. for the length of the child’s hospital stay. Siblings ages 12 and older may be included.
  • Only two visitors are allowed at the patient’s bedside at any one time. One must be age 18 or older.
  • Patients who are awaiting COVID-19 test results or who test positive for COVID-19 may have two designated visitors.
  • A member of the clergy may be designated for the duration of the patient’s stay and may visit between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m.
  • Caregivers/visitors will be required to complete a health screening form each day and receive a visitor pass for the day.
  • Compassionate exceptions for visitors will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

Norton Children’s Medical Center (Emergency, Surgery, Testing)

  • Two visitors may accompany the patient.
  • Visitors must be over age 12 to accompany the patient.

Norton Children’s Medical Group and Novak Center for Children’s Health Medical Offices

  • Two visitors may accompany the patient. One must be a parent or guardian.
