Norton Neuroscience Institute Adult Neurodevelopmental Program

Appointments are available by referral

The Norton Neuroscience Institute Adult Neurodevelopmental Program fills a care gap many individuals face when transitioning out of pediatric care.

The program, led by neurologist David A. Robertson, M.D., and nurse practitioner Paula A. Johnson, APRN, provides specialized adult neurology care for individuals with neurodevelopmental disorders and social development impairments. Paula brings extensive experience in pediatric neurology and caring for individuals with neurodevelopmental conditions into adulthood, helping bridge the transition from pediatric to adult specialty care.

We provide coordinated adult specialty care for neurodevelopmental disorders, including:

  • Autism spectrum disorder (ASD)
  • Cerebral palsy
  • Childhood illness or injury affecting brain development
  • Developmental delay
  • Genetic conditions affecting neurological development

Our innovative care model provides lifelong support and helps patients navigate the often challenging transition into adult neurological care through comprehensive, individualized evaluations.

A multidisciplinary team supports Dr. Robertson, Paula and patients in the program. The team includes a certified social worker and a nurse navigator and is deeply committed to caring for adults with developmental and neurological conditions.

We go beyond traditional health care, recognizing that the transition to adulthood can mean a loss of familiar supports. Our team works closely with patients, their families or support persons, and their health care providers to ensure coordinated care, advocacy, education and ongoing support — helping individuals continue to receive the care they need throughout adulthood.
