DNV healthcare has recognized Norton Brownsboro Hospital with the prestigious Comprehensive Stroke Center designation for providing the highest levels of care. Additionally, The Joint Commission and American Stroke Association have recognized Norton Audubon Hospital and Norton Hospital are designated Primary Stroke Centers, and Norton Women’s & Children’s Hospital is an Acute Stroke Ready Hospital. The designations mean the facilities have achieved aggressive benchmarks to deliver improved outcomes for stroke patients.

The American Heart Association Get With the Guidelines stroke care program has recognized all four of Norton Healthcare’s adult-service hospitals for exceeding national averages in getting patients in the door and administering lifesaving treatment to restore blood flow to the brain.

A Stroke of Grace, a nonprofit organization, offers virtual support groups twice a month along with education and awareness for stroke prevention.

Our team offers comprehensive care as you recover from stroke. Our providers specialize in diagnosing the cause of your stroke and managing your recovery to help prevent another stroke.

Norton Neuroscience Institute Resource Center is the area’s only center dedicated to helping you and your family navigate your lives after a stroke. The Norton Healthcare Foundation funds this important service, so patients don’t need to pay.

Dedicated patient navigators can help with transportation, schedule follow-up appointments and confirm that you can afford prescriptions. We provide support groups and exercise classes, develop customized diet plans and offer help with issues such as access to disability assistance, housing, and financial and employment advice.

Symptoms of Stroke — BE FAST*

  • Balance — loss of balance, coordination or dizziness
  • Eyes — having trouble seeing or change in vision in one or both eyes
  • Face — uneven smile or face looks uneven, droopy or is numb
  • Arms — one arm drops when raising both arms; numbness or weakness in one arm
  • Speech — trouble speaking; slurred or difficult speech
  • Time — Note the time when symptoms start: Time lost equals brain lost.
